With this option the server is owned or rented by your company but lives at the premises of the Internet Service Provider. The ISP provides connectivity to the Internet, support, a controlled environment, back-up and other services, but in general you are responsible for maintaining the actual server system, its data and the web site components. The elements that you are responsible for may vary depending on the level of support provided by the ISP.

Generally you will have significant control over your own system with the associated flexibility and freedom, but with this comes a degree of obligation and commitment upon yourself to ensure that nothing goes awry.
